Great British Festivals- Where to Find some of the Best Summer fun

Across Britain there are a number of music and arts festivals that really are wonderful to visit and join in. Tickets for Glastonbury are usually sold as soon as they go on sale and if you don't manage to get a ticket there are lots of others to consider. Some are for younger people whilst many are aimed at families and have art and culture as well as music. Whilst the weather can never be guaranteed here are some of the best festivals to be found across Britain in summer.
Womad
Womad (www.womad.org) is the World of Music, Arts and Dance and features acts from all over the world. It is a culturally rich festival with many new and diverse performances. There are also Womad festivals in other parts of the world such as Ethiopia and Spain. In 2011 the UK Womad is in Malmesbury, Wiltshire from the 29th -31st July.
Larmer Tree Festival
Another July festival that has family appeal is Larmer Tree which is held on the Dorset/ Wiltshire border each year and features bands, comedy club, crafts, theatre and much more. The settingĀ is the beautiful Larmer Tree Gardens and the four day festival grows in popularity each year.
Big Chill
The Big Chill is a fabulous festival in the grounds of Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire and is full of entertainment from bands, artists and many more. It's actually considered a way of life and is another superb event suitable for families as well as festival fans.
Camp Bestival
Each year Camp Bestival is held in the grounds of Lulworth Castle, Dorset and has live bands, theatre and even ballet amongst many other forms of entertainment. With a backdrop of the beautiful Dorset coast this is a great place to visit as part of a holiday in the area.
Edinburgh International Festival
One of the most famous in th world, the Edinburgh Festival is a month long party in the city. There is the famous Edinburgh Tattoo and exhibitions, the Edinburgh Fringe where performances all over the city often showcase the up and coming stars of tomorrow and the Edinburgh Book Festival. August in Edinburgh has something for everyone as part of this massive event.
Serenata Festival
The first classical music festival was held in 2010 on the Dorset coast featuring orchestras, new players, operas and a host of classical delights. For classical music enthusiasts this was a festival with a difference and is set to become a regular event.
